java/lang/object I am running Windows ME. After booting up I have a message "unable to locate system class:java/lang/object" I have tried uninstalling jre1.3.1 and limewire 2.2.3 and reinstalling them twice but each time I get the same message. Sometimes I can download music from Limewire but most of the time I get half way thru and I get the error message that java has caused an error and will now close. Where can I find Java/lang/object? |
re:java / lang/ obj... I had that same prob,it is located under c:/windows/sys. To solve this I simply quit EVERY application on my sys. including hidden programs such as wall paper ect...then the install ran smoothly. I also have "gasp" Win Me. |
java/lang/object (unregistered) Thanks for your reply. I have tried everything you suggested, uninstalled Java and even downloaded it again, this time from Sun and still am missing the java/lang/object file. Don't really know what to try now. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. |
I've got a similar message over on Installation/windows forum. If I get a solution before you I will let you know. Are you loading you Limeware on a drive other than the "C" drive? I am I notice it puts a directory on C:/program files/ but doesn't put anything in them. I don't know if this has anything to do with our mutual problem, but I thought I would mention it. |
i have the same problem - if any of you figure it out, please post your results thanks!!!!! |
java/lang/object I finally solved my problem by completely uninstalling both Limewire and Java, rebooting and then installing first Java and then Limewire. I don't know if this would work for you or not, but it's worth a try. I have also heard that top moxie that is installed in Limewire could be the problem. You might try to delete it. I have both Limewire and Java on the C drive. |
unable to locate java/lang/Object - a solution I've found a solution to this annoying f***ing problem but it means I've given up bothering with Limewire altogether - it's a startup entry in the Registry for the 'topmoxie' bundled program. This should be a solution even if you keep Limewire I would have thought. First a warning: It involves using the registry editor - be careful near your delete button as deleting a registry entry occurs without further warning. A full backup and creating a startup disc before doing any of this would be well advised. Anyway ... Uninstall Limewire and the Java Runtime Environment. Follow the 'Trash Apps infesting your Registry' bit of the jolly excellent 'Trash App Exorcism Tutorial for Windows' page at http://www.cexx.org/startup.htm When you've found the 'Run' folder of your registry you'll find and entry for 'Etraffic' with path "C:\Program Files\topMoxie\JavaRun.exe" /cp:p "C:\Program Files\topMoxie" com.ETraffic.ETProxy.ETMain2 This is the offending item. Select the entry and delete the little f***er with extreme prejudice [careful not to knock out any of your other startup entries!!] Good luck Adrian |
Java Error Fix I was getting the same Jave error, here is how to fix it. Go to the directory you installed limewire into, usually c:\program files\limewire Rename limewire.jar to something like limewire.old rename limewire244.jar (or newest jar file) to limewire.jar & restart Limewire & everything should be fine. |
