First try to delete your ".limewire" preference folder, when LW is completely closed (i.e also in the system tray).

If that doesn't fix it:

Uninstall LW and all your Java, download the JRE offline installer from Java here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

Install the Java with the offline installer and reinstall LW. That should fix it.

Hello blipp I was wondering what version limewire you are currently using. I had the exact same problem you are having now. I came to these forums and I was instructed to delete the .limewire preference folder but I still was having problems. However then I realized it occured when I updated from version 4.11.0 the 4.11.1. For some reason there are a lot of awful bugs in 4.11.1. I have since updated to 4.11.4 and I have absolutely no problems. As soon as I click the icon the splash screen loads up which it did not do before I updated. So I suggest you try updating and see if that works if not post again with more information and I'll try to help you get this problem fixed.

Which advice helped you, the one from Pirate or mine (delete .limewire or reinstall java?)......??
(just curious, because it could help others in the future as well)

Try my suggestion with the .limewire folder first.
If that doesn't solve it, follow my other suggestions

It seems that many have the same problem. Mine is that I cannot access my LWPro anymore. It only opens as the 4.10.5 instead of the 4.10.9 version. Where can I get the latest version and how in the world can I get my PRO back?? Please help! Thanks in advance

Well, the Pro version offers updates and tech. support for 6 months. After that you've still got the Pro version, just without the two thing said above.

Usually, Pro buyers should save their installer .exe somewhere save in case something unexpected happens, so they are able to re-insll their paid version.

If you're still in the 6 month limit, you could go to your download page and re-download the installer exe. However, if you aren't, you'll have no alternative then to download the newest basic version or to purchase the newest Pro version. Of course, either you should do only from the official LW website:
