Getting connected I hope someone can help. Limewire worked great when I was on dial-up but I switched to satellite and I can no longer connect. I keep getting the globe with the brick wall saying that I'm behind a firewall. I know it's not my provider because I've seen it work through xplornet. I've tried everything even going so far as to format my drive and do a fresh install of XP with only limewire installed on top. I should add that the system on which I used limewire was running Windows 2000pro. So the situation is with just xp and no updates and limewire installed I can't connect. my connection is 512/128.Please help |

XP has its own firewall. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) |

Thnks for the response. I Have disabled the firewall completely when I originally tried and once I formatted my drive and reinstalled there was no windows firewall as I had not added sp1 or sp2. I hope that maybe there is another work around. Formatting was a final effort. The only things on my drive were xp with no updates and Limewire Pro 4.10.9. I tried using the free version of Limewire but I got the same thing, Brick wall in front of the globe "limewire has detected a firewall. Help |

If the problem is not your XP firewall then it might be your modem/router internal NAT firewall. If it has UPnP abilities or if not, see Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) under both UPnP & manual port forwarding sections. Note: You can overcome the SP2 issues by applying patches such as these MS & 3rd party patches Some programs now demand SP2 so be aware. Also, updating to SP2 will change the XP firewall settings to default, so make sure you have configured it after any such updating. |

1. What firewalls you have? 2. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 3. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 4. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? |

Hi Again I do not have any firewalls running for the purpose of isolating this problem and I don't have a router. My modem is a SurfBeam I.T.E. satellite modem, model sm-2000 and my ISP is xplornet.com. Ive done the 6436 test and it worked. I even tried a clean install of Windows 2000pro with only Limewire running and it didn't work so I'm stumped. Ive tried running Kceasy and it finds users but only on the GifT network. It shows 0 users on Gnutella. HELP! |
