"LimeWire cannot create uninstall information. Installation will now exit..." Hi I've had Limewire for quite a while and last night I started to dowload the new Limewire 4.12.3, during the download it stops half way through and comes up with the message "LimeWire cannot create uninstall information. Installation will now exit. Restarting the computer can often fix this" I tried restarting the computer and downloading limewire several times but always came up with that same message at the same time of the download. Does anyone know how to over-come this problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.. |

Go to the Start menu, Programs>Limewire>Uninstall & choose uninstall. If it still doesn't work, download the "Offline" installer version from here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml Also, before installing, control-alt-del & open the process manager. Make sure there is no Limewire process running. If there is, force it to stop using the process manager. Then install LW. BTW when you say you had LW for quite a while, which version were you running? If it's earlier than LW 4.4 then you will need to find the installer within the LW program folder or else, use the add/remove programs control panel. That "only" applies to versions earlier than 4.4 |

IMHO - Always good for a FAQ or manual to describe update/upgrade.. ...and the manual and FAQ did that. However, how shall I update if I've already paid? Will my customer configurations be lost from my previous install, and can that be good sometimes... you know what I mean. I will go the fresh install method because I like that...but heaven forbid if things I downloaded get nuked. I expect the preferences might... Maybe I'm a bit too old school and been doing tech support WAY too long...but the new generation has never had a .dll conflict installing apps nowadays that I know of. In fact, they leave TSRs running all the time installing apps. heh. Yodeling |

If you're a pro user & are still within their 6 months of free updates, then get LW Pro from your personal Pro download page. Or find it here. Your settings will only change if you delete your LW preferences folder. Reinstalling will not delete your prefs folder. |

I am getting the "LimeWire cannot create uninstall information. Installation will now exit. Restarting the computer can often fix this" error and the suggestions below don't fix this... Go to the Start menu, Programs>Limewire>Uninstall & choose uninstall. If it still doesn't work, download the "Offline" installer version from here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml The link just brings me to the LimeWire homepage. I'm getting very frustrated! |

The Pro version is an offline installer version. Follow steps 1-3 here: Fixes for Limewire. If this is your 1st time to use LW, then install Java 1st before installing LW. |
