Default Downloads are getting slower and slower ???

Hi all,,,,
Only my second post on the forum,, and am very glad that i eventually found this place.
Have been using limewire for a couple of years now,, so " i think " i am a pretty advanced user,,, however,, i have only ever downloaded audio files.

Since upgrading to the latest version of pro,,,i have noticed a very obvious reduction in the speed that files are being downloaded.
Most files semm to be downloading at 1, 2 , 3,, or 4 kb/s.

This has obviously resulted in relativly small audio files taking anything from 15/20 mins or sometimes a lot longer,,, Am very puzzled by this as its only since the upgrade that its happened.
I have limewire configured ,,,EXACTLY,,,as i always have. Nothing has changed and it is optimised as i always have had it.

Would really appreciate any advice that anybody can throw my way.
Cheers,, kev.

Usually I'd recommend updating your Java with thte newest version using the JRE offline installer. Then I'd reckon deleting the LW preference folder (the old one called " .limewire " and the new one (of version 4.12.) called "LimeWire", which is located in the hidden Aplication Data folder under C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator<you computer name>\Application Data

But since there are a view people who seem to have problems since the latest update to 4.12.3, I reckon you waiting till tomorrow until the brand new version is available and download it from here:
http://www.limewire.com/

If the problem still occurs after this update, then try my suggestions above.

Hi ,,
Many thanks for the speedy reply,,

As far as i know, the pc has the latest java updates anyway,, do i dont think the problem lies with the pc.
As i said earlier, the problem only seems to be since i upgraded to the new 4:12:3 limewire pro. I didnt have an issues with the previous version of pro, which is why i think its to do with the new version.

When you say,, " wait till tomorrow and get the new version ",,,, do you mean that there is going to be another newer version than 4:12:3 ?????

Yeap, with that version the developers of LW try to address all issues some users have/had with the 4.12.3 version.

Whether your Java installation became somehow corrupted when updating to 4.12.3. has to be seen. In any case I reckon to always using the offline installers of programs (whatever program).
The deleting of the preference folder is also recommended to exclude its possible corruption as cause for any trouble. But when doing so, make sure you've notes of your configuration, because afterwards you'll have to re configure LW (i.e. Language, Shared folder, download/upload speed, etc.)
