If there are 3(LW basic) or 5(LW Pro) then they are the ultrapeers you're connected to... they handle lots of connections so that you can search & download within LW

If there are about 60, they are the peers & leafs that you're connected to when you're running as an ultrapeer & are handling lots of connections from other users!

Default Why only outbound connections?

I have high speed (cable) and sometimes there are over 20 connections but most of the time only 5. All outbound. Is this a good thing???

That means you're acting as an ultrapeer. Ultrapeers are necessary for the network by helping other people connect to the network. They are a very important component of the gnutella network. Only people with good connections, well configured, bandwidth & slots available are able to become ultrapeers. You can't choose to be an ultrapeer, the network decides for you. It's a good thing!
