Default What would i set my download & upload speeds to in the option box?

Ok i am really fricken confused. I was told by my network provider that i have a download speed of 128 and an upload speed of 64. SO what would i set my download and upload speeds too in the option box? And is this all i have to do to get fast downloads. It's taking me forever to download. Thanks

The question is, are the speeds your ISP told you in kbps or KB/s? Usually ISP's will quote speeds in kbps (kilobits per second, not KiloBytes per second which is what LW uses.) If your speed is 128 kbps then you should set your connection speed to modem. This describes speed allocations: More on LW connection speeds. Remember 8 bits =1 Byte. You can double-check your speed by doing a speed test. Choose nearest location for a speed test & only have your browser open: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/

For that speed, set the connection type to Modem. I have a 256/64 kbps connection & yes, LW's speed settings are not totally appropriate for me. That's due to the uploads limit. I have downloads set to maximum. If you set your LW to Cable type, you can set your download speed more accurately, but your uploads will be off the scale. That's where the dilemma is. I think with your speed you need to control uploads accurately so you have enough bandwidth for browsing. That's why I suggest setting it to Modem connection type. But it's your choice.

I am sorry for the interuption but, I would like to thank you Lord of the Rings. I have 2 problems and not only did you solve one of them for me but, through your links, and some other post that I have read, I understand what I was doing wrong and WHY it works now. Mr Tolken would be proud of you. Thanks again and may you ride Shadowfax the the height of glory.

Yeah that happens a lot an average speed for a 90min. movie can be anything from 2 hours to 2 days depending on hosts and your connection it's just something you have to accept really.

Good point, a 700 MB video even if downlding at maximum speed if lucky enough at 128 kbps will take 14 hours or so. If downlding less than 14 KB/s then obviously a lot longer. I get 27 KB/s with LW but not frequently for a single file.
