Maybe the bit rate is too low or if they're wma or realplayer, perhaps people would prefer mp3 or m4a/mp4
I presume you don't see the brick wall at the bottom of LW's interface? Check your upload options. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Uploads & check you have slots open.

I think they are mostly mp3s and my upload slots are open but I am behind a Firewall, although it should allow LW to function OK.

Actually I've been reading some of the other postings about problems of this nature and I think my NAV might be to blame. For some time now it's been logging and allegedly stopping unauthorised access attempts but it hasn't been preventing LW from working so maybe it's just stopping some connections.
I do have NAV and Windows Firewall configured for LW but I also run Windows Defender so is that too much for LW to cope with?

Ah ... that's a starting point to your problem. Even M$ recommend against running XP firewall with any others as do all other firewall producers. Disable one or the other (better to disable XP firewall.) Then see if the brick wall goes away. If not, see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ht=#post222774
Running both defender & NFW should be fine. (BTW running 2 firewalls simultaneously actually leads to less security, not more! They will clash in their operations.)

I've disabled Firewall and configured Defender to allow LW but the brick wall is still there. If my router has a firewall how do I find out?

What brand & model of Router do you have? Check here under the 3 different sections: Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) Let us know if you still have problems.

Duh Sphinx! You didn't read very well! I said to disable one of the firewalls, not both!!! Read what M$ has to say about it: Why you shouldn't have 2 active firewalls running on your computer Besides this person wants to share. Unlike you he is not a freeloader!!!

Hey Guys, please don't argue! Don't worry Sphinx, I'd never disable all my firewalls and I have NAV running.
My router is a Netgear DG834G 54mbps and after reading some of the postings on the link I'm inclined to think that it might well be blocking incoming connections but not all of them, as I had about 4 completed uploads yesterday and 5 interrupted uploads.
Norton's alert logs do seem to be tying in with attempted uploads so I think it is stopping them and I've been trying to explain the problem to Symantec but they've just given up/got fed up and referred me to my supplier!
BTW I'm a 'she'.

Port forwarding is always safer than UPnP. Though I haven't heard too many problems from Netgear users before (netgear UPnP is usually on by default I think.) But if you wish to port forward, the steps are 1. setting up a static ip (most important step), 2. forwarding a port thru your router, 3. Setting LW's advanced firewall to port forwarding. See instructions here if interested Netgear DG834G Port Forwarding instructions

BTW it might be worthy seeing Peerless's post here Reconfiguring Norton Firewall. Apparently Norton's settings can become confused sometimes, particularly if updating LW you may need to re-do the settings from scratch for Norton.

I've reconfigured Norton so that it now has no internet enabled programs, I still have XP Firewall disabled and I've removed LW from Defender's allowed list. I started LW and nothing objected and the wall is still there but LW appears to be working the same way as before and NAV is still logging alerts.

Should I now try to set up my router?
