One movie I downloaded won't play

It's *********************** and it's type is: .avi video I don't know what to use to make it play.

I tried to use the following:
1. RealPlayer
2. VLC Media Player
3. DivX Media Player
4. QuickTime
5. Windows Media Player

they all said that they don't support that type of file. What should I do? I'm so confused and I'm normally the computer genious in the family.

Okay, Thanks. I'll try that and see what happens.

Sorry GBF

But Invasion got boring, it lacked action, suspense and everything else that makes a film or program worth watching.

I used to watch it but after a time I didn't care whether I missed the next episode or not, so much so that I missed the final one (and did not bother to catch the repeat either).

Right now, ITV (in London) are going to repeat the entire series of Invasion again, I for one will not be watching it.

Good concept but lost it's way.

PS. If your file cannot play on VLC then chances are it's a fake file but, as FOTH as said, G-Spot will tell you what kind of file you've got and whether you will need another codec.

I've just joined and spent hours downloading a film only to find I've got a completely different film to that ordered. Am I missing a trick here?

ukbobboy01 August 22nd, 2006 10:19 AM

No, welcome to the P2P network where fake files, viruses and worms run rampant.

It can be exciting, fun, educational and dangerous, you just have to know your way around.

By the way, did you get yout LW via the official site or a scam site?

The reason I asked is that those who are usually surprised by getting fake files are the one that go to scam sites which promise unlimited downloads of films, games, music, etc., when in reality the scam sites have nothing, they just want your money and your payment details, while their promises are just empty and meaningless.

FOTH

You are a man of good conscience, I wish I could be more like you :)

But since I am older, more cynical, greying and going bald (all at the same time) I guess I must be doomed:(

Okay, So I tried playing the movie in Media Player Classic(after downloading K-lite) and it says on the bottom part of Media Player Classic"Cannot render the file" whatever does that mean? and what do I do?

Lord of the Rings August 22nd, 2006 11:55 AM

Codecs. I think your question is already answered above. Try another player like VLC or MPlayer. If they can't play it then there may be a problem with the particular file.

Gerard_Butler_Fan August 22nd, 2006 01:08 PM

What is MPlayer? I've already tried to play the file in VLC.

Grr, this is driving me mad!!! I want to watch POTC 2 without going to the theatres again to see it. I already saw it three times in theatres. I'd rather stay at home and watch it on my comp.

It's another open source project similar to VLC but put together a little differently. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/news.html

If all the top players can't play it then ...
BTW did you do a bitzi search to see if there were reports about that specific file you downlded?
