Default Need help with OS X sharing/firewall

Just bought new Intel Macbook with OS X 10.4.7. Trying to configure settings per Connections FAQ, but can't find port name 'Gnutella/Limewire' per these instructions:

To open the OS X Firewall for Gnutella access, please do the following:
Open up 'System Preferences'
In 'Internet & Network', open 'Sharing'.
Select the 'Firewall' tab (your Firewall should be on)
Select 'New...'
From the 'Port Name' drop down box, select 'Gnutella/LimeWire'
Select 'OK'
Restart your LimeWire application.

I do not have this selection on the drop down list.

I'm using the Basic LimeWire client v 3.3.5.

Any help with setting up the Firewall Port settings would be appreciated.

Lots of experience in Windows enviroment and used Limewire/Bearshare etc but total newbie with Macs.

Thanks,
velomoo

Default firewall config for OS X

Hi there,

Take a look at

http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/stat..._firewall.html

Basically, if you know which port you want (default is 6346) select the 'Other' option, type in the port number, and type Gnutella/Limewire in the description.

Gets more complicated if you have a router as well as a personal firewall. If so, you may have to map the port number through the router. Check your router info to find out if it can do this automatically or if you have to do it manually.

Hope that helps!

Cheers

R
