Question about Connections

When I have no files in my library, and I am not downloading anything, and I click on the connections tab, I see files labeled as "Outgoing" and others as "incoming"

How can there be incoming (to my computer?) files when I'm not downloading anything?

How can there be outgoing files when there is nothing in my library to share?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Sounds as though you're connected as an ultrapeer. Even though nobody's downloading from you, you're handling connections from other computers so that other people can search & download:)

Check out stief's explanation of incoming & outgoing connections in the thread below

There's an explanation of ultrapeers below

I think you're right. I remember seeing the word ultrpeer somewhere in one of my windows. I wonder if there is a way for me not to be an ultapeer?

You can check your connection status by opening the Connections page, your status (leaf or ultrapeer) is in the top left corner.

There's nothing sinister about running as an ultrapeer, you're just helping the network:) However, if you really object to it tools > options > speed, tick 'disable ultrapeer capabilities' > apply.
Now you'll always connect as a leaf;)

When I search things such as "fall out boy", "breaking benjamin" or absolutely anything else, limewire 4.12.6 doesn't give me any results at, nothing comes up when I search it and I haven't read any forums that say that other people have had the same problems. My computer meets all of the requirements and everything but I don't get results. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Roly23,
Please don't tack questions on to the end of a totally unrelated thread.
Can you edit out the names of copyrighted files you're trying to download? Copyright infringement is not to be discussed as per the Forum Rules.

Have you ever been able to see search results? How many green connection bars do you see? Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)? Have you used earlier versions of LW & not had this problem? Who is your ISP?
Start by reading through the thread below. LOTR & 6_pac's advice could help.
No search results
