how to play downloaded avi files? Hi, I am a total newbie and trying to figure this out. I was trying to download tv shows and then I was going to try to burn them to my DVD player to watch. When I download a show it's in avi format because that's all that shows up on the search list. So I download it and when I tried to play it, nothing works. Is there a certain program out there that I should be using? If so, is it free? Thanks for any help. Stacy |
I've done some reading and I have Nero StartSmart. I think it's version 6. Everything I read says that I should just be able to use this to burn to a DVD. I click on "Make your own DVD" Add Video Files Then I get this error message - I should say that it comes up under NeroVision Express 3. Not sure what that is. Unable to insert C:\Stacy\Limewire download\title of show.avi. Then it said I had to upgrade to something. Not sure what. |
Anyone? |
Wait for them to come online. ;) I normally recommend VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) because it has in-built codecs & is very reliable. It can also play dvd's, vcd's, audio & video streaming, etc. to see what it can do see http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html But VLC is only for viewing on the computer. You do have the option of connecting the computer to TV if your graphic card has video outputs. |
