I need help, please!!!! (no search results ever) I recently downloaded limewire and everytime I try to search, no results come back. I don't know if its my firewall, or what, and if so, can I or should I disable it (and how)? |
How many green connection bars do you have? Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe)? If you're not connected (ie no green bars) or are firewalled, check out the thread below. Connection problems? Check here first! If there's not a connection problem, try the fixes in the thread below http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...search+results If you still need help, post back with your details OS(Win XP etc) LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see) Firewall you're using Modem/router brand & model ISP Connection type (DSL etc) Where you connect from (home, school etc) Are you sharing a connection with other computers Is this your first try with LW |
It still doesn't seem to be working. I have a Windows xp, LW, windows firewall, wireless connection from home, sharing a connection with other computers and this is my first attempt with LW. What else did you need to know? |
oh, I have 4 red bars and the brick in front of the globe (firewall) |
Did you configure your XP firewall (don't run without a firewall, just configure it for LW)? If not, there are instructions below Firewall setup Make sure that you're only using 1 software firewall! Do this test & see what result you get http://www3.limewire.com:6346 Who is your ISP? What's the brand & model of your modem or router? |
It seems like im having the same problem. im using limewire basic. It never shows any results. and before i click on search the box pops up saying "LW is currently connected to the network. your search may not many results until you are fully connected to the network!" well i configured my Firewall to open a port for Gnutella as it said on the support page but it didn't help. i would be very thankful if someone could help me out with this. |
Check the following link very carefully (both posts): Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link). Firewalls can also be found in high speed modems/routers as NAT firewalls. So enabling UPnP or else port forwarding is the way to go. |
Well thanks for the reply. I got confused about the 3rd step! How do i know If i use NAT firewall? and i don't quiet understand, do i need to download UPnP support? |
It's difficult for me to answer you without details of your set up. That's why I asked you to check the 2nd post in that link. It's also listed in the forum rules to supply your set up details before posting. :) If you have dial up then there's extreme minimal chances you'll have a device with a NAT firewall unless you're using a router in conjunction with your dial up modem. |
Well yes sorry for that but i don't have half of the answers to those questions. and have no idea how to find out. 1. OS version?> windows xp 2. What firewalls you have?>no idea 3. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. >Im using LW basic and yes i did install Java 9. Who is your ISP provider >you mean the company? It's georgia online 10. Do this simple test for us. >I cant reach the page 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? >No im not sharing! 12. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. My 1st try. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface?> Yes i see a brick wall Well im not sure if this information is enough for solving the proiblem :( |
