Always connecting, never connected.... I'm sure this has an easy answer I just haven't been able to figure out yet, but has anyone else had the problem of Limewire continually trying to connect to multiple hosts but never actually establishes a connection? |
I only get that if I disconnect LW from the network and then try to reconnect without shutting LW down. If I shut down LW completely and then restart it, then it'll connect like it normally does. Don't know if that's any help or not:confused:. Do you have a firewall blocking LW? |
No, restarting it doesnt matter because it just doesnt connect at all. I am at school and I know that limewire works on this system because people in my dorm use limewire. I have followed the firewall setup to allow limewire to run, and ive tried it with my firewall shut off (Windows firewall, no other programs). I just can't seem to get anything to happen. |
When you have LW open. Does the icon show that your firewalled(brickwall in front of the globe)? Do you connect to the internet through a router? Most of them have nat firewalls that need to be configured. Connection problems? Check here first! A lot of schools block file sharing software. Ask some of your school mates what port they're using for limewire. Sometimes setting it to a higher port(40000 to 60000) will work. You could also try deleting the Limewire pref. folder called .limewire, points (2) and (3) in this thread: Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should!. If you delete the pref, folder, make a note of your settings in LW, cause they'll be reset to the default settings. |
