Uploading? Hi folks New to Limewire. I`ve downloaded 9 files up to now but don`t seem to be uploading anything is that because noone wants the files or my settings are preventing them?. Fairly new to file sharing but had no problems previously with `Bitspirit` . All the files are in the `sharing` folder so ??. Cheers Steve |

Does LW show that your firewall is blocking it(brick wall in front of the globe icon)? If so then that could be the problem. See Connection problems? Check here first!. If not then probably no on has tried to upload your files. If you only have 9 files in your shared folder you may not get any hits. As your library grows you will start seeing more uploads. Go to the library page and look under the uploads column. It looks like this 0 / 0, the first number is the completed uploads and the second is the attemps.

Thanks for the reply 6_pac. Yes I do have a brick wall in front of the blue globe. I noticed my Lynksys router had a firewall active as well as Zone Alarm so deactivated the Lynksys one. The java.exe program has question marks set next to it in the program control part of zone alarm but still the brick wall is there. That link you mentioned showed `your test worked` so wondering what to do next?. Cheers Steve |

Haven't used ZoneAlarm but usually in firewalls when there is a questionmark on a program that you want to give full access, you can just right-click on it and choose allow instead of ask. This helps a bit with the startup process of Limewire. You should of course do the same thing with Limewire.exe if that has a question mark as well. Another way to see if your files even show up in any searches in by looking at the hits. If the number under hits says zero then there is probably something wrong with your configuration. eg. firewall problem. Attachment 2909 Also the number in the green box says how many files you are sharing. Attachment 2908 Last edited by Sleepless; February 14th, 2008 at 07:28 PM. |

Cheers for that Sleepless. Yes I have allowed Limewire access with the Zonealarm firewall and also the java.exe I read about somewhere but still the brickwall is there. It is showing 9 files sharing but no hits. Suppose I could disable zonealarm altogether while using Limewire but a bit reluctant to do that as its never been a problem before and always seems to work well perhaps too well for Limewire?. Are there better(?) firewalls available?. Cheers Steve |

But is your XP firewall active also? Make sure it's not. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...842#post178842 ZA http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=38788 Which model of Linksys do you have? |

Uploading Hi all Sorry for delay replying. Yes I did use zone alarm with BitSpirit no probs. The 9 files I can share are only gps mapping stuff so popular??. Not using PeerGuardian2 or anything like it. Manual port forward settings are Forward and listening port 6346 Thanks again Steve |

Try portforwarding your LinkSys instead of disabling the firewall in it. There is a good chance that you will find an exact guide on how to do this on this page. Just choose Forwarding, scroll down to your router, click it and then choose Limewire the same way. www.portforward.com Just remember the importance of having a static IP and that forwarded port and listening port have to be the same. And remember that there is only one port needed for Limewire. And by the way GPS mapping is not sure to bring up many hits. Depends pretty much on filenames and format.
