Default Files not opening

Hello,

I am new to Limewire and have downloaded a TV prog, but when i click on the file, a setup file is created in my library. When i click on this, i get a box which reads:
"Limwire will not launch the specified file for security reasons"

Can anyone please help with this so I can view it? I have reset all my settings to default and not sure of what to do with it.......

Thanks

Limewire blocks all executable files. Programs of different kinds incl. Viruses, Spyware, Adware and other nasty stuff. This is to keep newbies like you and some people that are just ignorant safe from infec*tions.

And I can assure you that no TV-show will be in an executable file, so I would advice you to delete the virus you downloaded.

I would also suggest that you stay away from files of these formats:

.com
.exe
.zip
.rar

These are the filetypes that will most likely contain malware (Viruses and such). Also you would maybe find a bit of reading useful. You could start here:

Other interesting stuff worth knowing about Limewire is in the Sticky threads scattered around the different forums. The "How to find music" sticky at the top of the "Tips and Tricks" forum has lots of tips that you can apply when searching for video.

hello, I am expiriencing problems with programs too. I also had som problems like yours,so now what i do is download programs and videos in a separated folder, you still will see them on your limewire library so instead of launching it from your limewire library go to down to on your libraRY PAGE AND PUSH EXPLORE BUTTON that should open your folder where you have the programs downladed and you will be able to launch it from there.

Yeah, that's definitely a smart advice.........opening blindfolded some .exe/.zip/.rar files........

Just keep the following programs handy after your system has started to act strangely.......
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/(free)

http://www.grisoft.com(good free AVG)

http://www.ewido.com(free trial which can still be used and updated after the period has ended -the best in my opinion)

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/(free)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE)

And here the address of the ER, if the above have failed to save your system:

@aviirvine

I think you might have missed something when you read the previous posts, or at least I hope you did. This was about videofiles not programs. You will NOT find a legit videofile disguised as a program ever on Limewire.

If you didn't miss anything, then start downloading from the links foolofthehill provided for you. Scan, scan and then scan some more, because as you may have heard before, "Ignorance isn't bliss".

Here are some more:

WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! Click Me

And just incase you are running with some Cra*cked or outdated antivirus/spyware as well:

Antivirusprotection and so on Click Me which btw has a really good firewall as well, so you can block some of the malware that has infested your computer from phoning home to get more.

After that, I would seriously rethink my download habits, if I were you. Just a heads up
