Why a Firewall icon when I turned everything off?

I show a firewall icon - I can't seem to connect correctly. I have turned off ALL of my security leaveing me vulnerable & still I get the firewall icon. How can i track this "firewall" that seems to be preventing me from using Limewire? I have a home system - running XP and a LinkSys router & am using local phone company DSL service.

have you tried turning off the security on your router aswell as on the computer?

No. Is that on the router itself? Doesn't that open me to a whole lot of potential infiltrators?
