Chatting with other members...

Hi there...New to all this but wondered if you can help.
Can you tell me how to chat with people that I am downloading from, or who are downloading from me? Someone was downloading a track from me this afternoon and it was taking for ever. Being the good boy that I am I stayed online till they finished, but would have been cool to ask them if they were coming back later when I was gonna be online for a longer time? I notice a smiley icon appears with some users under ''chat'' and not with others? Is it anything to do with this?

The chat function doesn't work in the current version of Limewire. I suppose if you really wanted to chat, you could try to find an older version, but then you'd probably have to be lucky enough to try to chat with someone who also had the older version!

If you have dial-up internet and cannot be connected all of the time, I understand. If I were you, I would disconnect when you need to. If someone is downloading a file that they can only get from you, they can try to connect to you later or find a different source. That's just my opinion.

But guys...
I don't mean to be obscene, but... when someone is downloading a content from only one source, and searched for it desperatly, and that source disconnects, u could say ***** to that other guy, so, if the download is almost at the finish, please do not disconnect, the downloader will aprecciate that thing so much, and at the same time, you'll be helping everyone that serarches for that unique content you have by adding one, or more sources, so the responsability of only you having that content and not sharing it will be downgraded for two or more guys, so everyone will be in peace with theyrselves....

I am a newbie here and this is my first post.First,want to say Hey to all on here.Second,I am like some ppl here who d/l LimeWire and am addicted.Computer recently crashed and lost most of my music files...AAHHRRRGGG!!LimeWire has been a valuable tool for me to replace alot of the files.I came to this forum with an inquiry about how to use the chat feature and found a thread answering my question within 10 minutes.I now know the chat is not working on my version and that I am not an idiot who cannot figure something seemingly simple out...what a relief,lol.I also agree with the mindset of,if possible,letting a d/l finish before logging off or turning off my machine.I have searched long and hard for a few obscure tunes and waited for a long time sometimes to d/l only to be cut off halfway or in one case,almost 100% of the way in...very frustrating.While I know everyone feels differently about this,I personally appreciate being able to get those rare gems and know I have a few,so I try to extend the courtesy whenever possible.
