The mysterious brick wall won't go away.... 1. OS version? Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? Windows 3. How much ram? (?) 4. Hard Disk space available? 22.6 GB 5. Connection type? DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Speedstream 5100 7. Where are you trying to connect from = House 8. What version of LimeWire = 4.12.6 & 1.5.0_09 9. Who is your ISP provider? SBC Global/Yahoo 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Nope ...only use either LW OR WinMX. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Been an infrequent user for a couple of years now... 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes I just desided to update the LW version and now see a brick wall ( banging my head on it now!!) I've turned off the firewall...no go I removed and re-installed LW... no go I seem to be able to upload files (share) but downloads... a few (2-3) will Q up but transfer rates = 0 and they just creeeeep along. If I have anymore firewalls, I am unaware of them... I have a strong connection to LM... all bars. PLEASE help??!! Thanks, Andy. Last edited by mccdive; January 24th, 2007 at 03:47 PM. |

Just double check your Win firewall first & make sure it's still configured properly Firewall setup Your router has a firewall. If it supports UPnP, enable it within the router & use the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply to save a change. If that doesn't help then try port forwarding. Go to the site below, find your router & then choose LW from the list of programs. You'll find simple instructions for port forwarding & that should get rid of the firewall icon http://www.portforward.com/english/r...outerindex.htm Don't forget to set up a static IP, if that's part of the instructions...otherwise port forwarding won't work. LW's listening port & the port forwarded must be the same number! Wait for about 20 mins after setting up PF & see if the firewall icon's gone then! |

Thanks for the input Birdy, but it seems that today the problem has shifted to a new direction! I no longer have the brick wall showing. However my connection is down to 3 or 4 bars and I've connected to 4 different users for 4 different files but the transfer rate is still 0 KB/s. Grrrrrrr ! |
