Problem installing LimewirePro - "delete old version..." Hi there...can someone please help me? I have paid for LimewirePro. When I try to install windows version, it stops half way through saying that older version of Limewire is running and I need to exit the older version before continuing with installation. I have already deleted the older version from programs. Why does it keep saying I need to delete it? I transferred my Limewire library into my itunes...could this be the problem? How could I fix this without losing my ipod library? THANK YOU.... |
Use control-alt-del & stop all mentions of limewire. Then try again. If still problem, then tdeleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) Some people use the iTunes music folder as a downld location but it's not something I would recommend. An alternative is to set your music download folder as the iTunes music folder (I still don't recommend it); How to Change download location (click on link) (specific for folders) |
Uninstalling from add/remove programs can stuff things up. Check in task manager & see if any LW process is running...if it is, end the process. Noramally, installing a new version of LW will automatically uninstall the older version. You might have to use your computer's search to look for all LW files & then delete things as you find them;) The right way to uninstall LW is via start > all programs > LW & use the uninstall option. |
THANKYOU both of you for your help...greatly appreciated. |
Just in case you did use the add/remove control panel ... if you're still in trouble see Errors due to mistakenly uninstalling LW using Add/Remove control panel - what to try now. Read from here onward! |
