Default .mkv movie files...

sorry if ive posted in the wrong place but...
How do you convert .mkv (or MKV) files into a wmv or video clip (jpeg i think..)

I know how to play them but to convert not so sure. AFAIK they are simply an mpeg 4 variation, so there should be a no. of converters with the ability to convert such files. To play, I'd recommend this player: VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site). BTW I'm not sure why anybody would want to convert a file to wmv format, but that's their choice. And a loss of quality due to the conversion process.

I found this while googling up mkv converter

what type of file should I convert it into? (any suggestions?)

Well depends what you're going to use it for. If you're going to burn it, then I'd suggest DivX or another MPeg 4 format I guess (unless you can convert it to Mpeg2 ready for burning). If you're only going to play it then I think VLC will do the job as a player.

Maybe you can try this video converter.It can support that.
