Thumbs down suspect pipex is blocking limewire

After a couple of years successfully using limewire I now can very rarely download anything. a message usually says that I have no internet connection, which is not correct. It sometimes downloads in the early morning which makes me suspect that my isp [Pipex] is blocking it selectively.
I have completely reformated my computer, re installed the relevent programmes, have Norton security, all with no success.
I recently upgraded to Pipex 8 meg downloads which incuded renting the line from them, and wonder if this service has contributed to the problem.
Pipex so far not responded to my query. help please

Yes, I suspect they are, if you use the search forums function and search '' Tiscali '' a lot has been written on this subject (I believe Pipex is Tiscali)
If you download a lot, they mess with the protocols for P2P sharing, even tho they advertise '' Unlimited downloads '' they restrict until 11.00pm when you have to share bandwidth with other ''Heavy users '' ring their Tech support and see what peculiar answers they give, good luck, sorry i can't help but forums have lots on this.

You could try changing your listen port number, it may work...

something between 49152 up to 65535, try this one 64049....

Changing the Listen on Port number doesn't work for me.
Tomorrow I'll ring up Pipex and make someones day at work a horrible one as I specifically asked about P2P networking before I signed up to Pipex, and the girl on the phone told me it would be fine, she said "All we do is supply you with the connection and then you do whatever you want" so I thought "Great!" cuz I use Limewire alot for singles mainly, and for episodes of programs I've missed. I also use torrents alot too but it's all P2P and it just doesn't work.
Anyway, if it's worth it I'll probably check back after I've phoned them.

Good luck Jakzen ! let us all know how you got on????
You might want to move to another I.Provider, but you usually have to wait for the contracted year to run out ! Use forum search function(Tiscali) and you can complain on broadband matters to an ombudsman or similar,it's on google, the more that do the better !Pipex are taking the **** (IMHO,)

Thumbs down pipex blocking limewire

Pipex have confirmed to me that they do what they call streaming between 6.00 and 11.00 pm. this effectively blocks limewire during those times.
It works fine in the mornings, ok if you aren't at work!
I've comlained to them and threatened to change my ISP, but no reply yet.
The other issue I have with them is the download speed, best is about 1meg.
I signed up for their 'up to 8 meg' service last November. fat chance.
still complaining.

Well I didn't need to phone them as the next time i tried limewire, it connected OK, WinMX too, so I was happy, yeah the downloads were slow but I only wanted a few tracks so I'm not complaining too much yet.
I just checked it again as I'm typing this and it still works. (possibly because it's 10am?).
I don't know whether or not it's because I followed this guys steps here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=32882 or what but it's working so mustn't grumble. I wonder how long it'll last though. :/
Oh, i also checked the "Do Nothing (not recommended)" box in 'Advanced>Firewall Config' could this be helping some? I have no idea.

yeah it's because you are using limewire in the morning. I find it gets slower and slower as the day progresses and stops completely in the evening

Yup, even with LWire set up really well for optimum performance(See stickies) you can only get good speeds and connections after 11.00pm, it even affects browsing, this seems to be the case if you are classed as a heavy user, normal users are ok unless they hit this limit of 5gigs per week, then watch out!!
If you dont use LWire at all for two weeks its suppossed to return to normal,
Mine hasnt yet !! Ive noticed tiscali/Pipex being slated on other forums like ''The daily grumble'' and so on, the more that complain to independent authorities the better.
