General questions

Hello
*no one seems to have replied to my previous post, so here it is again - my mian issue is prob i) . Pls help if u know the answer or direct me to someone that can*
i) Limewire, upon computer loading, tells me 'Sorry Limewire was unable to restart old downloads' . Whats up with this? Have i lost these download strings? Ima pretty sure i havent cos Ive looked in the Incomplte folder and they are there
ii) does limewire have a minimal disk space required on hard drive its installed on to run effectively and efficiently? ie 20gig or higher?
iii) is it possible to change were Limewire stores incomplete downloads to a different folder without re-installing limewire ?
iv) How come i can find a file name whilst browsing another persons shared files, yet not find file of same name in vairous search types from limewire main search screen?
v) what is the default folder limewire will create an incomplete folder if one doesnt change it during setup?
vi)the incomplete file folder. If one moves all files from this folder to elsewhere, then decides to move files back,,is it important to include the .bat and .bak files with same group of files? or can one say just pic an incomplete file, and move it back to the Incomplete folder ie does the incomplete file require the .bat and .bak files to be re-recognizred ny limewires main search screen?
vii)how come the peview files dont delete themselves from the incomplete folder onces download is complete?
viii) does having large amounts of files waiting to be downloaded cause instabilty in the limewire programme - is seems to in my case

Regards
Eskai

If you click on one of those incomplete files and click on resume it will resume...
As for all the other questions try using the search function, it works wonders...

eskai March 18th, 2007 05:43 PM

You obvously have not come across this issue.
perhaps you dont realise something - when limewire tells you it cannot restart old downloads ALL listing of unfinished downloads are NO LONGER PRESENT IN LIMEWIRE SCREEN THEREFORE-therefore , ur response of 'click resume' seems,,iam not even going to bother saying.
Jeez, can someone who knows what going on, or has expereince with the issue of 'Limewire was unable to restart old downloads' reply and not just give me a snotty 'use the search function' or a a stupid reply of click resume -

wondering why March 18th, 2007 05:49 PM

Well for your information matey if you go to your incomplete folder in your limewire library you can resume from there...

Didn't you say that you looked in your incomplete folder and they where there... duh :bangh:

eskai March 18th, 2007 06:49 PM

wow, i do beleive we are getting somewhere. like pulling teeth.Could this be love.
Anyways
1..files were not in the Limewire library ( but yet they are on my HDD)
2..There is No option i can see to resume these files from my HDD
3..yes the incomplete strings are on my hdd as i said. They are not, however, listed within the limewire interface, nor the limewire library incomplete files partition.

So i did the following
:- moved all mi incomplete strings elsewhere. Rebooted. Moved strings back in incomplete folder ( including .bak & .dat files ) . Rebooted. The result was - whilst they do not appear within the limewire main interface, they did however appear in the limewire library incomplete files partition, but when one selects 'Resume' one is told 'file ????? is not a valid incomplete folder and cannot be resumed'.
As to my other questions, i guess the word 'limewire forum' is dabateable. 'Forum' being a place where people can come discuss issues, ask questions, receive answers yes?
As compared to a 'Library' where one searches for info/data with little to no assistance

We are just volunteers here and don't always have the time to re-post things that have already been answered...And you have sooooo many questions....

Well if that didn't work they must be gone, Why I have no idea..

eskai March 18th, 2007 07:19 PM

I suggest you volunteer for something else.
When you volunteered,,what ,,pray tell, did you expect?
DId you not think you may have to answer questions that may become repeatative?
Did you not think it may consume some portion of your time
Did you not think you should have a sound understanding of the product and related issues?

I suggest you perhaps consider re-educating yourself following LordoftheRings attitude towards being a volunteer, one who truly deserves the title 'moderator' - if anyone needs help seek him out. if i knew how i would, but a dare not ask another question.
Anyway, Limewire volunteer, I would be overjoyed if i 'owned' a product and my 'volunteers' were the ones responsible for the 'decrease' in my customer base.

birdy March 18th, 2007 07:31 PM

eskai,

You owe WW an apology here. She has the position of Moderator for a reason (as do all the Mods here)...she has a good knowledge of LW & a long history of helping people on this forum. Don't be so rude & disrespectful.

Every Mod & helper on this forum will, at some stage, tell posters to use the forum search rather than asking questions that have been answered before. We are all human & sometimes get p*ssed off with answering questions, when a simple search of the forum by the poster could have answered their queries.

wondering why March 18th, 2007 07:32 PM

Ouch....Im so crushed....:D

eskai March 18th, 2007 08:26 PM

Apoligize ? i think not birdy.
You are asking me to apoligize for what? for expecting a representative of your company ( i say your as u represent it too ) to assist me in 'your' product? To be basically told by a represenative, now 2, that they cannot be bothered replying? just like no one could be 'bothered' to reply to my exact same posting apx 5 days ago? And now one telling me, and i quote 'get p*ssed off with answering questions,'.
I ask again
When you volunteered,,what ,,pray tell, did you expect?
DId you not think you may have to answer questions that may become repeatative?
Did you not think it may consume some portion of your time
Did you not think you should have a sound understanding of the product and related issues?

Look here you lazy piece of SH*T...Read the freakin FORUM RULES and abide by them....
What does this say....

Before you post to one of the specific Client Help and Support Conferences in Gnutella Client Forums please look through other threads and Stickies that may answer your questions. Most problems are not new. The Search function is most useful. Also the Stickies have answers to the most commonly asked questions. (over 90%)
If your problem is not resolved by a search of the forums, please take the next step and post in the appropriate forum. There are many members who will be glad to help.
If you are new to the world of file sharing please do not be shy! Everyone was ‘new’ when they first started.

....Also wake up to yourself your really starting to push by buttons......Comparing this forum that's run by volunteers to a car yard....

eskai March 18th, 2007 09:36 PM

ahhh i see your point
Like most people who initially enter a 'Forum' i supposed one asks questions, discusses issues etc. **Thats what a Forum is.** After reading your forum rules, i see were i went askew. I now realise this forum is actually a search engine, and shall abide accordingly with these terms. Also please note from forum rules 'If you are new to the world of file sharing please do not be shy! Everyone was ‘new’ when they first started.'
Btw the car thing, do you not understand analogies?
My LAST thing is this, and i have tried the search engine for this one, with no success. And I do expect an answer.
- Do they volunteers on this site have a team leader or manager? or a answerable authority? if so i require there contact details.
After reading your Forum rules , i beleive i must draw your attention to THE RULES, in particular
''3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.''
Being has been posted more than once within this post now. I class this as excessive. (Ref 'Birdy' 12.01pm 19.03.07, ref 'Wondering why' 1.18pm 19.03.07)
Lastly, and iam serious, (we all got better things to do,,maybe) i cant help but wonder, after all these replies etc,,wouldnt it have been quicker just to have answered my questions? but again , that is kinda beside the point as i now am familar with the term 'Forum' which is a search engine, if only i was told earlier. I shall no doubt find all the answers there somewhere, thank you so very much for your time.

You are a bit rude in your replies and quite frankly have deserved every response you have gotten WW answered you questions correctly in her first response and you came back with a rude response.

Obviously incapable of understanding the instructions or the concept of going to you hard drive and finding the incomplete folder and clicking on a file. (Or to Lazy to do it.) By the way if you would have responded to the LOTR in this manner the odds are you would have been Banned by now. :laugh_2:

You were told in the first post to use the search. Once again incapable of understanding the instructions. (Or too Lazy)

Well it happens at times :nono: but I would bet that if you were a volunteer here and got a response like the one you left. There is a pretty good chance the same thing would have happened. And with the attitude you have shown here my guess is 100% chance.

Now my attitude is after reading this thread is you can take a flying leap off a cliff. Why on earth would I or anybody else help a person like you. :bangh:

Good Luck In Life

eskai March 23rd, 2007 08:03 AM

okay ive looked at a few things. specifically 1st 2nd and 3rd posts.
Maybe i didnt explain succintly, when i said my incomplete files had disappeared yet they were still in my folder - what I meant was- from the main limewire screen, they had disappeared ( ie from the 'search tab ').
Yes in my HDD incomplete folder they were still there. I Guess WW was referring to 'Resume' from the Library tab ( which, until mid post, i was not familar with in -any- way ). I thought she was telling me to 'Resume' a file that i had just said wasnt there.
Also it is not, in any way shape or form, possible to resume by clicking on an incomplete file in -my- HDD,, maybe its different in other peoples.
So -if- the above case if correct, and WW presumed i would know to goto the 'Library' tab, and responded with that in mind - I will apoligize to WW for my rude response. It stemmed from my ignorance of the system, how it works, and a feeling of being fobbed off (Note : i had never used the search button, within the Forum before, didnt really know its significance). And no i didnt read the Forum rules when I first entered the forum, who does? I assumed it was like what the word 'Forum' means, a place to discuss things, ask questions etc.). That cos iam new, and inexperienced.
As for the rest of my post,, iam not so sure i can apoligize for it all. Consider you are the professionals in this field, and you deal with inexperience/ignorant people - there is a way to do things when dealing with a naturally and understandably ignorant/ inexperienced people, in this case me. i dont expect mind readers but but i dont think its beyond the realm of reason for me to assume that a person that was could see that i wasnt all knowing and furthermore, see/guess **where** i may be coming from, / doing wrong. and thus diffuse the situation with knowledge ( i mean really- how many new people use the 'Library tab' or the 'Forums search' tab). But that doesnt excuse me, there is a way, even for and ignorant/inexperienced person to act.
But some of my points are valid, additionally, 2 wrongs dont make a rhyme.
I no longer wish to continue this post - its getting way kinda lame now. Iam moving on. Ive apoligized somewhat, and I, to some extent , admit the error of my ways. Sorry also i broke the forum rules, I only broke them from not knowing them. WW on the other hand knew the forum rules, and whilst telling me of them, decided to break her own rules. That is not professional. Now I am aware of them, iam cool with them. Pls no more reponses, i tend to feel obliged to respond, and truly, this post is now a waste of this forums space - iam sure there are lots of new people needing help to their questions
Btw Grandpa - to answer your questions/statements in order - 1,,I believe i mentioned somewhere (prior to this current post ) in this whole muck that i had tried going to HDD and resuming - dontwork - but thank you for trying to insult me ( too lazy too ). very professional. 2 I beleive if LOTR hadve been first to reply this whole thing would not have escallated to thispoint 3,, trying to insult again, not worth my time, 4,,highly doubtful . 5,,not necessary, not asked nor will be again.
Enuf!
