Default Limewire on OSX

I have used Limewire on Mac OSX (with a G4 powerbook) quite
successfully for quite some time. However I recently downloaded
the newest version of Limewire (4.12.11). This proceeded without
difficulty, as did the Install. However I cannot launch the program.
Whenever i try, the Limewire icon appears in the dock for about 2
seconds and then vanishes. What is wrong?

This means there is a problem with Apple's Java. Are you updated to OS 10.4.9?

If not, check your Software Update for any Java updates.

Default Limewire on OSX

I had OSX10.4.9, but it does not work properly with Final Cut Pro (that I
also use a lot), and so I had to go back to 10.4.8. Does this mean
that Limewire 4.12.11 won't work with anything earlier than OSX10.4.9?
If so, it would be nice if this were made clear on the website.

LW works fine with 10.4.8.

So, I wonder if going back to 10.4.8 messed up your java somehow.

See if a reinstall of java helps.
