Exclamation Hello Please can u suggest?

Hello I uninstalled Limewire but I'll put back up, anyway my brother be saying that LW messes up the PC, he also said that a friend got his PC messed up, is it because he wasn't careful and didnt scan the files before downloading them right? Because I was told that before u download a file make sure that you scan it(A friend of mine told me that)to prevent it from infecting your PC.
Please a few warnings before I download.
Thanks for reading!

Beware of downloading programs and game files... They usually are incomplete or full of viruses. If you have a virus program with real-time scanning it should alert you before the dl is complete, allowing you to stop the dl. Also checkout the stickys under the getting started forum. They are very helpful.

Once i hit a certain number of files my computer messed up the names of alot of files, i am still renaming them, i had all of them in the shared folder individually, since then i created a folder for each artest and place all the new music into new folders reflecting the band name,if it has an extention .exe do not download it ! it is a program and not a music file,

So should I download Limewire again? My Ltp is new so I'm afraid of downloading it and then something bad could happen to it.

Welcome back.
Just be sure you have a decent anti-virus program program & anti-spyware, etc. As long as you are careful you should be fine.
I'd also suggest using an alternative to Windows Media Player. And do not seek WMA or WMV files.

Check through these http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...ind-music.html

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...tml#post327233 (simply a guide to avoiding some commonly found spammed file sizes)

Some security software suggestions can be seen on this page http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...uld-aware.html (Point #3. Perhaps B, C, G)
