Default slow computer

hello. i'm new with limewire. i've got a ibook g4 laptop. if i start limewire the computers become incredible slow in all programs! it's hardly usable! even typing this text is almost to much for the computer!! the program limewire will also crash frequently. this is new for me. i never have crashing programs! the computer doesn't crash, however if i close limewire the computer stays sloww. only after resetting it's OK again. the download's also go very very slowly (2kb/sec) (i have a dsl connection thru airport). is there really no spywhare working? what's happening?

Hi jobie2007,
I'm not a Mac user, so bear with me until a Mac user comes along

Try the tips here (not sure about what Java version you'd need to use for your ibook though).
Reduce the drag caused by LW

If you downloaded LW from www.limewire.com then there'll be no malware!

Use the forum search to look for slow computer, slow ibook g4, crashes ibook g4 or something like that...you might find some older threads to help.

Default same problem here

I have the exact same problem; I assume it's because I have the minimum memory and that Limewire is written in Java. Those two things I can't change, so I'm hoping there's a third reason!
