slow downloads Hi. Im quite new to downloading and although I can download most of what I am looking for movie downloads are very very very sloooooow - they take hours. What am I doing wrong:bangh: |
You can only download as fast as your connection allows, as fast as your sources will allow. People often upload to several people at once so keep that in mind their bandwith & slots are shared & can become full (which is why you sometimes can't connect to them.) Answer is to try to find more sources. Don't be shy to do another search. Also, right-click the search result tab & a small menu will appear, choose Get more results. Some hosts like Shareaza (RAZA) use more than one network & are reknown as only offering miserly bandwidth for gnutella network users. They often have a good video selection. See if your ISP is shaping your LW use. They can often detect p2p programs & if they have strict rules my shape LW or at various times of day. One way to check is do a test download from magnet link dot com: + MagnetMix.com +: The Source for Good Content Tell us what happens & also tell us who your ISP is. |
Hi. Went to the link and dowloaded a short film.49,385kb. Average speed got to 145KB/s but on average its only 40-60 KB/s. recently changed to Cable provider (Virgin Media) but had same problem when I was on BT (ADSL) I use provided modem but this is linked to a Belkin wireless router. This is connected to my PC. Would that make a difference |
I have to tell you that most UK ISP's do in fact shape bandwidth for p2p programs. Some only do it for peak periods of day, some do it 24/7. System details - help us to help you (click on link) |
