ok well im fairly new to LW. my sister has had the basic and says it awesome so i desided to download the basic and now when ever i search a song it says it is searching for it but it comes up with no search results! my sister has tried fixing it but she doesnt know either!

And if that's no help, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).

Is your LW fully connected (how many green connection bars do you see)?
