And also, Limewire keeps logging itself on every 5 mins, I shut it down and it logs itself on again and again and again. There's no end to it.

Please help, what do I need to know. I've deleted a lot of trash from the harddisk and registry but to no avail.

Sounds like a virus. Try the fix in this thread(Try it first): To fix the limewire keeps popping up / no taskmanager bug do the following

You can also try downloading AVG(free), update it, and scan your computer: AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free. We've had luck with it cleaning some other viruses.

I cannot install install AVG Free Edition build 432 due to the following error:

You will have to kill the worm first as 6 Pac stated. Did you click the Blue Link he gave you to rid yourself of the bug ? After you clean your system then dn/ld AVG.

Hi. I did exactly what 2pac said (3 times in fact) and the system appears to be now clean. The taskmanager appears and Limewire doesn't keep popping up. I then downloaded AVG 7.5 again and registered it. However, it installed 50% then came up with this message:

Creating of the temporary folder "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgfwsrv.exe" failed.
The system cannot find the file specified. (2) %PATH% = "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgfwsrv.exe"

I have tried downloading the AVG FREE version and again after registration and 50% of installation complete it come up with this message:

What is the matter? What shall I do? Please help?

Kez, WOW I have never heard of anyone not being able to download AVG. I don't use it my self so You might go to there web site for more answers. I will continue to research this problem

Kez, Do you possibley have another antivitus running ? If so disable and then try. Can't use two at the same time, they may conflict with each other.

My ISP tech put me on to this one after I had problems with AVG ...

but, yes, you do need to either remove or disable other ani-virus programs due to in-fighting....

6pac's advice was very good, I got rid of the damn virus. However, Limewire still kept giving me trouble but now of a different kind!

Whenever I opened it up it literally "froze" my system and so I was unable to use other software. Limewire did work but it was very very slow and froze my system.

So I decided to change to Frostwire, thinking that that would remedy the problem. But no, same thing it freezes my system.

Something may have gotten corrupted.

Uninstall java. With LW shut down go to the add/remove programs control panel and uninstall your current version of java. Now download and install J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 11(use the offline installer): Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall LW. Don't use the add/remove programs to uninstall. Go to the program folder, it should be found at C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Uninstall.exe. Double click the Uninstall.exe file. That should uninstall it. Then search your hdd for limewire and delete any references. Now dl and install LW using the offline installer: Lime Wire » Download LimeWire
