I guess that if you are using a dial up modem then you must either be using the Windows XP firewall without realising it or there must be one in the AOL package.

I know that AVG produces a firewall but unlike it's AV it is not free, either way you will have to configure the firewall you've got to allow LW through.

For the XP firewall you will have to do a search on the MS site, unless a forum member can direct you to some instructions within the forum, and for the AOL firewall, if it exist, the AOL helpdesk.

I am so confused and frustrated
I went to Feedmyipods.com and paid $38.95 for unlimited access to music and videos, I downloaded limewire and found I have a firewall I don’t know how to go around. Then lookin through some posts I find limewire of free. Can anyone clear this up for me.

Yes Limewire Basic is Free Pro costs 18.88. If I were you I would try to get your money back ASAP. Only download from the original Limewire site Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download «.

Uwireme

You have certainly got yourself into some trouble, let see if I can help you out:

1) You were scammed out of your money by a site specially set up to con the novice and uninitiated out of their money. Get in touch with your credit card company and report this fraud, as most CC companies have an anti-fraud section you should get your money back.

2) I would suggest that you delete your (possibly bogus) copy of LW and get a proper free copy from here: Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download «

3) And finally, here are the instructions on how to configure the XP firewall to allow LW through to the internet:

Windows Firewall - LimeWire

Now Junior Member Uwireme, follow the instructions and you will be OK (and no longer confused and out of pocket).
