Understanding the search tab. HI I am new to your forum and to LimeWire but not new to P2P file sharing. I have installed LimeWire version 4.13.0 Pro. I am currently searching for a software application so I began the search within programs. After the search is completed within the tab at the top of the results is the name of the search and a number in parentheses. It would look something like this, example (261). This number often if not always does not correspond to the number of items shown below it. Sometimes the difference is huge. Like out of the number 261 only two item are shown. What's up. Thanks!:whistling: |
Hi TKC, First off It's not adviseable to dn/ld .exe, rar, wma, or zip files. They are usually either fake or infested. You take that chance and alwats scan each and every file with a good AV before opening. Now to your question. The # in ( ) are how many hosts have that file, BUT if it's a high #, more times than not they are probably Fakes. I would say what you are trying to do is a little or a lot RISKY. Good Luck. There is a ton of info on these Forums if you will use the search function; upper right, under the Log In. Take some time to read up on this before you jump off into trouble. Hope this helps. :D |
Thanks Remoc I think that is why I dropped out of the P2P scene years ago. It had just turned into a place to get pimped. I guess I was getting desperate as I have not had any luck locating a copy of HP's QuickPlay ver. 2xx. Its a piece of software that allows an HP laptop to play DvDs and CD without booting the OS. It's pretty neat but not functioning on my laptop. I have goggled every conceivable word or combinations of words without result. Oh! I have located some site that are supposed to have the file but I need to purchase a membership to their site. I ran a number of searches with LimeWire also with the same or very similar results. Hundreds of hits but not one that even resembled an HP file. You know I didn't used to have this much trouble locating files on the net. Not until individuals started using the net with so many angles pitches and out right deceitful actions. I know you must be thinking why don't I just go to the HP site and download the necessary file. Well believe it or not for reasons I can't understand they don't have them. If you or anyone else reading this post has any ideas on how to find such a file it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
