Hi, I'm trying to dl limewire. I have XP, and use WinAntivirus. I tells me in the install process that there is an error opening file for writing: c:\program files\lime wire\limewire.exe.

This happens regardless of whether I have anti virus on or not.

Can anyone help?

Does this have anything to do with the other issues I see people having with their version of Java?

could be what version of java do you have.

Try this version of Java. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Now reinstall LW & make sure to use the offline installer (when you click to download LW & the dialog box pops up, cancel it & you'll see an option to download the offline installer).
