![]() hello, can anybody tell me if there is a fix for this, or if the file is faulty. i downloaded a movie (**** *** ***) but 6 minutes into it, the picture pauses, while the sound continues. so can i fix it, or do i need to start again? i am in a hurry, it was meant to be a birthday present!! thanks in advance... ![]() (using Limewire 4.14.8 on a laptop with windows XP and a cable connection in turkey!) __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. ![]() Probably a codec problem. There's a program called GSpot that can tell you what codecs you need to play a particular file. For WMP, K-Litecode Codec Pack gets recommended a lot. I use XP Codec Pack 2.0.6 and rarely have any trouble playing a file. You could also d/l another media player. VLC media player is a good one that has the codecs built in and will play most file types. More info here: CODECs list for Movies /Alternate players / Video help forums Also before d/loading videos, check them with Bitzi Web Lookup. It'll help you sort out the good ones. While on the Bitzi site, search for the file there and use the magnet link to start the d/load in limewire. Then search for it again in LW to help find some sources for the file. Also preview the file when it gets to 10-15% to check that it's what the title says and not mislabeled porn.

![]() you sound like you know what you're talking about! i will try what you suggested but first this: i plan to burn a CD of the film, because it is a present. i guess if i have a codec problem, then a DVD machine will not encounter the same problem. (pirate films are rife here, and my laptop always asks for code, but my DVD player has no problems) final problem, i gave my DVD player to charity last week coz i am moving! what do you think? if i burn the film, will it be a dud? |

![]() so i ran the check. it isn't porn! and on second thoughts, i don't think it looks like a codec problem. all the codec problems i have had mean that the movie never shows at all, while this played a few minutes before giving up. i guess the feeling this file is never going to play pictures. any other ideas? |

![]() Try playing it with VLC media player. If it plays in there then you'll know you need some codecs. If it doesn't then the file might be corrupt. Was it rated on bitzi as a good file? Don't know if it'll be a dud or not. Some dvd players have trouble playing burnt dvd's and some are sensitive to the brand of dvd you use. You won't know for sure until you try playing it in their player.
