Default OK I Downloaded VLC But Still Having Problems

I am having problems viewing any of the video files that I'm downloading from Limewire. I have yet to see any video from anything I have ever downloaded. My WMP gets an error that says the file type might not be supported or there is a problem with codecs. I have read a lot of posts about codecs and thought it would just be best to download the VLC player. However, even then the vids are just a plain grey screen with no video or sound. This has happened in all the files I have tried. Also, the timer ends in like 15 secs. I have been downloading music for years but I'm new with the vids... Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect you are downloading porn files that are requiring you to get a certain codec (read into this a trojan infested piece of spyware) to play them. if you are not pursuing such files then take the time to right click on the search result and choose bitzi lookup to verify the quality of the file in question
