Default How can I block someone from browsing me as a host?

I would like to still share files, but not be browsed. I hear that is a tool the record companies use. I want to avoid being browsed. Can I disable the feature, but still share files with people who want to download from me? I'm not concerned if my files show up when people search for them but I don't want people to be able to open my folder and see how many files I share. Any ideas?

Does the premium version let you block being browsed?

There's no actual option to disable browsing, but if you go to LW's tools > options > chat > untick the box to enable chat > apply > ok that should help. Having chat enabled seems to make it much easier to browse someone.

Just remember...a lot of people still think that if they can't browse a host, that host's not sharing So you might find that people add you to their list of blocked hosts, or kill your uploads, because they think you're a freeloader!

OK, thanks -
Do you know if the Premium version has the option to block being browsed?

What "Premium version" are you talking about, Limewire does not have a "Premium version".

If you mean LW Pro, then no. The options are exactly the same in basic LW & Pro. The only differences between Pro & basic are:
1. Pro connects to 5 ultrapeers when connecting as a leaf (compared to basic's 3).

2. Pro allows you to connect to a couple more hosts when downloading (10 for a cable/dsl connection, compared to basic's 8 & 14 for a T3 connection, compared to basic's 10).

By premium version, I mean LimeWire PRO which costs $21.95. I have the basic version, which is free. The Pro boasts of enhanced features, and I was wondering if blocking someone from browsing me as a host is one of the features. kazaa has it. Browsing a host is supposedly what record companies did in the few people they went after...

All you need is a firewall and, as Birdy said before, disable chat.
