Limewire icon doesn't open limewire

So I've been uninstalling, reinstalling, redownloading and all those things that are fun and dandy; but limewire just doesn't want to work or open. The icon on the right-hand corner displays but when I double-click it; limewire doesn't open, and when I right click it I don't get a menu from it at all. When I use the desktop shortcut it'll open limewire but it wont find an internet connection. I've also made sure that my firewall doesn't block it and I still can't get a connection. Weirdest thing for me is when I go over to my friend's house, limewire works fine (i'm on a dail-up connection, the friend is on a broadband connection)

If your LW isn't connecting, try the fix here first...it's a really old post but a few people have recently found that it's solved their problem
For those who can't connect

If that doesn't help, there are other fixes to try in the thread below. Just remember to have LW properly closed before replacing gnutella.net file & deleting preferences folder. Also, when replacing Java versions, remember to have only 1 version of Java installed at a time.
If LW Will Not Connect

If nothing there helps at all, post back with your system details.

I have tried both and it will not open still. what is wrong?? I am using VISTA!
