Default PLse help me with these two questions asap ... (firewall icon, torrents)

Hi all i have questions here to ask.

1) In the bottom left corner of Limewire, where the conection status icon is, there is a small erth like icon. Now i know its got something to do with a fire, but what i need to know is, some times its just the plain earth icon, and when i hover over it it says Limewire has not detected a fire wall. And sometimes it will have a wall over it indacating that it is behind a fire wall.
Now is it good to have it saying "not detected a fire wall" or behind a fire wall? I do have a fire wall, im using the one built in with Windows Vista Home premium.

2) How good, how safe is it, to use the torrent thing in Limewire?
Is it just as easy/same as using other torrent programs?
I have used it once and it seems ok, but i just want to know from other users what they think of it.

Cheers all.
Jme.

The torrent support in Limewire sucks. Use a proper client like Azureus or uTorrent

As for the firewall thing. try posting your system info and maybe someone will know. Include how you connect to the internet. modem/router etc.

Ok, well i conect to the internet via a wireless router, well my dad has the wireless router in his room/office, im in the next room conecting via wireless. Im running my advent laptop on Windows Vista home premium.

I do remember whan i had Limewire on my old windows xp pro laptop, i had the zonealarm fire free firewall installed, and if i remember rightly it did show that i was behind a firewall.

All i want to know is it it reconmended to run Limewire behind or not behind a fire wall??

I know a fire wall is important as it stops hackers etc, but i do use the more improved builtin firewall whitch is in Windows Vista like.

1. Only one firewall software needed. If using ZoneALarm then disable Vista firewall. Configure ZA firewall to allow LW. Else disable ZA & configure Vista firewall. User Cant Connect - LimeWire

2. Wireless connections generally use NAT which has the effect of being a firewall. If the router supports UPnP then make sure it's enabled. Else, the router will need port forwarding to allow a port for LW to listen through. With your wireless device, unless it is set for UPnP or Port Forwarding then you will be unlikely to have much sucess with using any torrent program.

3. System details - help us to help you (click on blue link)

4. LW works fine as a torrent program for general use, but some people prefer other torrent programs due to some limitations of LW's torrent abilities & acceptability in the torrent world.

Yea well, i dont think i need to go and change settings to the router or ports etc as i have allready used limewire both for dling files and using the torrents part ALL with out any problems.

With the fire wall thing, some times it will say i am not behind a fire wall and sometimes it will say i am behind a fire wall.
Im using the firewall that is included in the Windows Vista Homepremium.
Ive allso used other torrent programs with out any problems and all with resonable speeds.
