Ok, well i conect to the internet via a wireless router, well my dad has the wireless router in his room/office, im in the next room conecting via wireless. Im running my advent laptop on Windows Vista home premium. I do remember whan i had Limewire on my old windows xp pro laptop, i had the zonealarm fire free firewall installed, and if i remember rightly it did show that i was behind a firewall. All i want to know is it it reconmended to run Limewire behind or not behind a fire wall?? I know a fire wall is important as it stops hackers etc, but i do use the more improved builtin firewall whitch is in Windows Vista like. Jme. |

1. Only one firewall software needed. If using ZoneALarm then disable Vista firewall. Configure ZA firewall to allow LW. Else disable ZA & configure Vista firewall. User Cant Connect - LimeWire 2. Wireless connections generally use NAT which has the effect of being a firewall. If the router supports UPnP then make sure it's enabled. Else, the router will need port forwarding to allow a port for LW to listen through. With your wireless device, unless it is set for UPnP or Port Forwarding then you will be unlikely to have much sucess with using any torrent program. 3. LW works fine as a torrent program for general use, but some people prefer other torrent programs due to some limitations of LW's torrent abilities & acceptability in the torrent world. |

Yea well, i dont think i need to go and change settings to the router or ports etc as i have allready used limewire both for dling files and using the torrents part ALL with out any problems. With the fire wall thing, some times it will say i am not behind a fire wall and sometimes it will say i am behind a fire wall. Im using the firewall that is included in the Windows Vista Homepremium. Ive allso used other torrent programs with out any problems and all with resonable speeds. |
