using lw in different locations hello! i am new to this forum, and wanted to posted an introduction before my first question - but i couldn't find where.... so i have to ask my first question before i do that... :) ok, here goes. can you access your library from a location other than the one you used originally? here's why. i have a mac, and use lw with my itunes and my ipod. i recently got a mylo, which isn't recognized by the mac. so i want to log into my windows pc, and access my lm library. i think i can do it, because for some strange reason, my mac found an old library that i had on my windows pc, and now it shows up as it's one playlist. very strange. so i want to be able to download that library to the mylo. i tried to burn some cds with some of the library, but that didn't work well, and took a ridiculous amount of time. thanks for your help! |
I am not totally clear about your description. The playlist may well show up on the mac via iTunes. That's not really unusual. If it picked up a playlist file that was saved via your pc's LW, then yes, mac LW could probably find the playlist file and open it. Which library do you wish to transfer? The LW download library or the iTunes Music Library? Your question is a little vague. I don't know about Mylo. I have never heard of it. |
thanks - here's more detail ok, i have lw on my mac. it's got like 800 songs on it. i want to be able to go to my pc, which is windows based, and log in to lw as that same user, and access those 800 songs from that location. that way i can download from my mylo (which is just sony's answer to the itouch), since the mac can't identify it. so, like, say i am at work, can i log on to lw, and pull up that 800 song library from another computer? it's the same premise i guess, as accessing your email from any computer, just going to the internet and opening it. but lw doesn't seem to let you identify yourself. that is where i am confused. i hope this helps. thanks sooo much@! |
I think the best way would be to simply transfer the song files to the pc. The pc and mac are obviously networked. But for the mac, you need to designate that you will allow certain areas of your computer are shareable to another computer. At least that is true for osx 10.5 Leopard. I am not knowledgeable about networking with a pc. But I would imagine the same thing would apply. So once you transfer the files across to the pc, direct your Mylo to that location to copy the files. But then again, if it is a mac osx network permissions issue, then if permissions are set correctly, your pc and Mylo will probably be able to read directly from the LW download folder. |
