Limewire installed but cannot open

I have installed limewire and the icon is showing on my desktop, although when opened it only shows the initial limewire start up screen. I have the latest Java so that should not be an issue

I have recently downloaded NOD32 antivirus also. Could this be the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you

Try updating your Java again, making sure to use the offline installer: Java SE Downloads
Download the JRE offline installer & make sure to remove any other Java versions before installing this one.

Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.
Vista users: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

If that doesn't help, right click on the LW icon > properties > compatibility. Try running in compatibility mode for Win 2000 or NT. Vista users, try compatibility mode for XP.

Do you have Alcohol software installed? If so, look here.
LW starts then close, log: resolve_virtual_call

Are you on an intel mac? If not, see Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link) & try those suggestions. Update your Java using the Software Update option under apple menu. :)

BTW you should have posted in the Mac OSX Installation or General OSX problem section, not the FrostWire (different program) section (I deleted your double-post). ;)

But the 'finish' button's showing, even though it's greyed out??

Try updating your Java. Use this link to download the latest version: Java SE Downloads

Download the JRE offline installer. Remove any other Java versions installed on your computer (via add/remove programs) before you install the latest update. Then restart your computer & see whether the installer works properly.

If not, uninstall LW (start > all programs > LW > uninstall) & use your computer's search to look for all files & folders (including hidden files & folders) with limewire in the name... delete what you find.
Now run CCleaner: CCleaner

After that, restart your computer & download LW from this link: http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe

Install that one & see how you go:)
