HI, thanks for your help and reply. I just checked and Java is updated and is running real good.

Lime Wire won't open, and I've uninstalled McCaffe and shut down Webroot spy sweeper.

Lime Wire still won't open on my computer.

Calvin,

Thanks I spent $13.95 on LimeWire and it was a waste of money because I couldn't get the program working at all. Just wouldn't open. Then, I downloaded FrostWire and FrostWire works for me. It searches for mp3 files in seconds and does what I need.

I've given up on Lime Wierd.

Thanks for your advice!

I also spent 13.95 and couldn't get it to open. Now I just bought LimeWire Pro for 6 months and I am scared to try to install. I don't want to get hysterical again. My Java is OK too and firewall is fine. What the heck is wrong with this program? Wish me luck I am going to bite the bullet and try to open it.
Will report back.
Joanne

Question Can I Get Some Help please

I have tried to get some help trying to open LW. Can someone please try to help? I have been waiting and no one has answered.
I do not know what to do in this situation,
Have I done something wrong? I know everyone is busy but I have been trying to get LW to work for so long. I am so exasperated.
Thank you to anyone who may answer me.

Sorry, that this happened to you. Why don't you go to CNet.com or PC World.com. Go straight to the download section. Look for audio, video or file sharing downloads. Try to find Frost Wire, Bear Share, or other progams. Bear Share is fun - you can make friends. Frost Wire is great, and finds so many music downloads. However, sometimes they say the file is corrupt. If the file is corrupt- please cancel it. Don't download or you'll let a trojan on your computer.

I am sorry. I had not seen a post to my question until now. The above message is in error.
Thank you and I will be more careful before I post.

BearShare is no longer the same program it was & is controlled against copyright sharing. The program sold out under pressure from a court case.

vaisforlovers go to your LW Pro download page & download the 'Other' version. It does not require installation; see Download ‘Other’ version & simply unzip & use!. This used to run fine on the other windows versions, I presume it works for Vista also, but I do not know for sure.

LW Preferences folder in VISTA is 'Hidden', it is within a hidden folder. So you need to turn on Show all Files & Folders from the View options in your vista search function. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html
LW Preferences are created when you open the program the first time & set the options such as where to download to, shared folders, speed settings, etc.

If that option of 'Other' version does not work, try installing LW Pro again using the installer. Make the LW Installer set to Admin by right-clicking the installer & setting it to Run as Administrator. After installing you may need to do the same for the actual program. I do not use VISTA so can only go by what I've read elsewhere. Oh ... you may need to do that for the 'Other' version ... set it to run as Administrator.
