Default Basic Vs. Pro - searches

I am considering buying LW PPro and wanted to know if tyhe more obscure music (older music, B sides, Deep Cuts, forign albums) will be easier to find using Pro as opposed to basic.

Are the searches really that much better with Pro?

a1spec,

Welcome to the forum!

While LW is currently the most popular p-p program, it is not the best. So I recommend saving your $, use the basic ver or switch to Frostwire, Phex, etc.

When I got a free copy of Pro I noticed my connection went from excellent to turbo, and dl speeds increased a little bit. I don't think the increase is worth the $. The range of files available for dl will not change with Pro.

Like many here, I stopped using LW (even though my Pro still works). I was looking for movies from the 60s, and some sleeper films from the 80s. They never showed up via LW searches. I then started searching torrent sites, and found everything I had been seeking for more than a year.

LW is not a good torrent client, but it will handle a few for you. Still, I had to wait for torrent dls that were okay with LW's odd methods. So some of my cued torrents just sat there for weeks. I now use Azureus (free) and I'm very happy with it (even thuogh I have not configured my computer to take full advantage of the way torrents are shared).

Ask a simple question here, and you may not always get a simple answer. But I'll try. The answer is No.

Thanks for the reply. You mention Frostwire and Phex but then go on to say you use Azureus. Which is the best for obscure media??????

I find Phex is better than either LW or FrostWire for obscure downloads. This is because LW tends to connect/find mostly only other LW users. Whereas Phex finds files from 'other' Gnutella programs. FrostWire is very similar to LW, being basically the same code.

Difficult to compare Gnutella network & bittorrents. They are somewhat different. I also use Azureus and am very happy with it. I use Advanced settings for mine.

There are a lot of sites around that use Torrents, but many you need to sign up for. I am not as experienced a torrent user as many others on these forums so will not attempt to answer your question. I use both to find the rarer files. If I have difficulty finding it with one then I will try the other. I use both LW Pro, Phex & Azureus.

I haven't used anything else since I began using Azureus.

Some torrent sites ask for registration, and some ask for $. I stay away from those and have not had any problems finding what I want.

You can get almost any types of files you wish via bittorrent. Same as most p2p programs. For myself, if I can't find something using LW Pro, then I check Phex then Azureus. There seems to be a lot of non LW users who share a lot of good material, unfortunately LW does not always find them in searches, what's more, LW auto bans some gnutella client programs automatically due to them not fitting in with the most recent Gnutella protocols.

Azureus is a Torrent Client, Not a Tracker.
Sounds like you might need to do some Research to learn a little more about Torrents. Here is a short Guide that may Help Explain more about Torrents.

Torrents is torrents, and Azureus will download 'em.

You'll find torrents containing songs, albums, (with each song in a seperate file, bundled together), and whole collections.

Azureus (now called Vuze) is free, safe, and updates frequently (automatically). When your share ratio gets above 0.9 the dls pick up speed. I keep my share above 2.5 and get very fast dls.
