plz help i only just got broadband and ive been dyin 2 get limewire, so i tried downloadin the basic free limewire there......it wuz mid installin when this msg came up..."An older version of Limewire may running. Please exit the old version before continuing with installation. Once you have exited Limewire, click OK."


BUT ive never ever had limewire on my computer before? so how could there b an older version running???!!!! i even searched the whole computer just incase sum1 accidentally tried downloading it before bt nope! oh dear...its jus soo frustrating!!

Another person has just had this same problem. Check out the thread below, go to post #6 first & download & install the older version. Then reinstall the latest LW (use the link provided in that thread) & see if it gets rid of that 'older version running' error

i recently upgraded to a 10.4 operating system for my mac. I downloaded limewire from their site, it downloaded to my desktop but it wont open. The limewire and limewire at login icons are on my desktop but neither one seem to open. I click on the info and it tells me the size is 19.9 MB and the name is Limewire.app. Can anyone HELP . Thanks

Not sure why your LimeWire program is on your desktop. Only the installer should be on the desktop after you mount the dmg installation image. By default the installer installs the LimeWire program into the Applications folder with an alias to it on the desktop. Find the Go menu -> Applications so it opens, then find LimeWire folder, open it, drag & drop the LimeWire program into the Dock. Now click on the LimeWire icon in the Dock.

(an Alias is similar to the Shortcut in Windows in case you didn't know, but much more reliable since it was originally a mac concept.)
