Limewire Connection Problem okay so I had limewire 4.18.8 for a while and it worked fine, and everything was going great then someone in my family decided to override it with the new beta limewire 5 I'm finding the problem that many others have encountered that limewire 5 will not connect to the internet, making it so you can't search for music and although it will not connect on my account, somehow it does on my brothers, on the same computer? so I tried uninstalling it and re-installing 4.18.8 but encountered a few problems 1.After the download there is no link to access the recently downloaded limewire 4.18.8 so I cant get to it 2.I can no longer click and drag songs from limewire into itunes so after this I tried downloading the songs and transferring from my computer to my itunes like you're supposed to do when you can't click and drag but after i download the files on the re-downloaded limewire 4.18.8 the files do not, and will not save anywhere on my computer the most simple answer would be to find a way to get the limewire 5 to connect but any answer would be appreciated and I do have windows vista |

Make sure both LW's are not using the same connection or listening ports. Check via Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> super really advanced > Firewalls. If both LW's are using either same listening or connection port, the clash will stop one from connecting. Other than that, try deleting the gnutella.net file; If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link). It seems for LW 5 it's best if you simply delete that file rather than replace it. LW will create a new one. OH .. if you're back to using 4.18 then follow those directions & replacing the gnutella.net file. And firewall setting is Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Firewalls. |

You'll find detailed instructions for XP users & a link for Vista users Otherwise, you can try the other fixes in that help thread (next thing to try would be deleting LW's preferences folder). If none of those fixes work & you're stuck, please post back with your system details as shown in the help thread. Last edited by birdy; February 15th, 2009 at 07:53 PM. |
