After a few downloads LimeWire freezes I downloaded the new limewire and after a few downloads it freezes can someone please help.. and btw I am not that good with computers.. so please put things in layman's terms Thanks |
Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Instructions for deleting the LW prefs folder Or for Vista see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html & remove the entire limewire folder. However LW program must be closed at that time. |
Computer switches off when using LW5 I have a similar problem. Just upgraded to LimeWire Pro 5.1.1 after using pro 4.18 quite successfully. 5.1 loads and connects fine however, when I go to search or download, without fail, after a couple of minutes, the computer throws a fit and turns itself off in an instant! It only ever does this when I load the new LimeWire. I tried deleting the preferences as suggested but it made no difference. I also tried installing the offline version of Java instead but again it still switches off after a couple of minutes. Rather stumped here I'm afraid. Any advice gratefully accepted :). System: Windows XP SP3 Broadband Antivirus: ZoneAlarm Extreme Security Limewire Pro 5.1.1 |
Not sure about this one. Some people already had problems with 5.1.1 First thought would be to purge incomplete list; Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link). Sorry that thread has not been updated for LW 5 but same principle applies. :) Use 'Locate File on Disk' to find incomplete folder: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...disk-tool.html |
Thanks for your suggestion LOTR :). I did as your link instructed and purged the incomplete downloads but LW5 is still switching my computer off after a minute or so. |
Let's try a few things first; right-click the LW program itself & choose run as admin & change compatibility. See if that helps. :) This worked for one person: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...tml#post339684, but they were using Vista. But problem might be related to both the installation of LW & Java. Version of Java might also be playing a part if you do not have latest update. hmm ... but your problem is more than just LW crashing, something is turning your machine off. Have you done a virus scan? Could be a video card settings clash. |
