![]() Hi, My name is Mike. I have installed and uninstalled Limewire 3 times and can't get it to launch. I have Windows XP home. I'm using Comcast cable. I have a home router which I THINK i may need to set the ports on. However, i don't know where to get the port numbers for Limewire. Can someone help me. Thanks. I just got the latest edition of Limewire. |

![]() See whether anything here helps: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/331559-post2.html ![]() LW's default port is 6346. |

![]() Alright, I've been through all the threads I can find regarding LW not launching. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, using old/new versions, deleting limewire file in roaming folder, updating java, disabling firewall, etc. Problem is with my lap top with vista home premium 32 bit. 2 Desktops run LW no problem; laptop using wireless router, but don't think that has anything to do with problem because LW never even loads. Run as admin makes no difference. What gives? Got a feeling that once it opens, I'll probably have probs connecting, but I'll be happy if I can just get the program to load for now! |

![]() Is this your first time using LW on the laptop? Did you try installing LW to a folder other than the default (as shown in the link in post #2) & running in compatibility mode for XP? And did you see the link about Alcohol software (if you have that installed)? Do you only have one version of Java installed? Which version are you using ATM? If you're still stuck, try the tips here - maybe running some cleaner apps & then a clean install might help? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html Don't worry about purging the downloads queue if you've never been able to use LW on the laptop & if LW won't even open ![]() |

Thanks for reading. |

![]() I think Birdy's suggestion was for JRE java not JDK. ![]() Steps 5 & 6 here for compatibility mode: Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link) ![]() Oh just realised you are with Comcast. Do you use Comcast Anti-Spyware? If you wish to use LW, do not use it. Else it will stop LW & may even attempt to remove it from your computer, damaging it. Comcast uses a reknown spyware that is anti-p2p programs, falsely identifying them as bad when they are not. ![]() |

![]() Ok, so it looks like I wasn't quite as thorough as I thought. I uninstalled all Java and then went to Java.com and re-installed latest verion, and now LW works. I'm sure that was one of the suggestions I read, so my apologies for not trying that first. Just goes to show that you shouldn't cut corners! Thanks again for the invaluable help here. Keep up the good work! |
