Confused Installation problem: during the installation an error box pops up, "Could not open input file for splittet files"

I go to install Limewire and everything seems to be going well, but during the installation an error box pops up and it says, "Could not open input file for splittet files." I have no idea what that means. I have Mozilla Firefox internet, Java installed(as requested), Windows Vista. Please help.

1. Try this technique http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html. For Vista, you need to right-click installer & choose Run as Administrator. And do the same with the LW shortcut after installing.

2. Also try installing into a different location, unless that's inconvenient.

Kaspery? Do you mean Kaspersky security? If answer is yes, disable Windows firewall & add LW to the Kaspersky firewall exceptions under Filtration rules .. make a sub-rule for each of TCP & UDP.

For installing LW, follow my advice in my previous post above.

I also have the splittet problem & I'm not 15. That's closer to the number of years I've been on the internet. I have Kaspersky & limewire is allowed in the exceptions. I have Vista, Java 1.6, & I've been trying to update to LW5 all day & night. It seems no matter what I do it keeps stopping at the "splittet" error. Here's what comes up when I click details after getting the error:

Extract: torrent.dll... 100%
Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\root
Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire\root\magnet10
Extract: badge.img... 100%
Extract: canHandle.img... 100%
Extract: limewire.gif
Extract: options.js... 100%
Extract: silentdetect.js... 100%
Output Folder: C:\Program Files\LimeWire

Does anyone have any ideas? I've already deleted preferences.

Have you tried right-clicking the installer, choose Run as Administrator, Then when asked where to install, choosing a different location rather than the default. Perhaps create a custom folder within program folder & calling it Limewire 5.2 & install there, or even installing it to a different partition.
