Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire

LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

Thanks for the reply. I tried unsuccessfully. Did not seem to help and still getting the same error. I deleted all .limewire folders including hidden files. Not sure what could be wrong. Would it make sense to remove the program completely and try a re-install?

If you have the Pro 4.12 installer saved then try reinstalling.

Check this link for more info (don't worry about point 2 - you'd be downloading a basic version which would automatically uninstall your Pro version during installation!!): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html

Just remember that unless you have the Pro installer saved, you won't be able to download that again. LW don't keep old installers available for download, apart from the previous release at the moment.

Not all preference folders are named .limewire - that's the name of the prefs folder in versions earlier than 4.9.34.
Prefs folder in later versions is named LimeWire... so make sure that you also deleted that folder
