New Version Of Limewire (movies not playing thru DVD player) I am new on this forum so I need any advice you can give me. I have been using limewire ever since it first came out and I have to say I don't like this new verison. The last one was so easy to understand and I never had problems what I downloaded. Ok here is the question I need help with. Why is it ever time I download movies using this new version limewire when I put the dvd to play in my dvd it dont show nothing. Im telling you I have so many movies I download from the old version limewire and I was able to play alot of movies I burn and watch it on my dvd player. Now with this new version I watch movie and I can watch on my computer but when I put in my dvd player nope move dont show. ANd I know it is not my dvd player cause I have all movies so many movies I burnt from the old version limewire and friends who burn movies from whatever they use and my dvd player played them all. Now this new version of limewire I download movies and wont let me watch now. Did limewire put a block now that you can no longer watch movies on your dvd player but only on your computer. Cuase there no way I can sit on my computer and watch tv and hurt my eyes and my back. Any advice why limewire is doing this. |

hey you just responded to my post so i thought i write you here . Ok I am downloading avi files movies that my dvd player will play. It doesnt play mp4 on dvd player has to be mpeg or avi. What seem to show what the file is when you download on limewire in the past and now. I am using nero and I never had problem with it. I am able to burn whatever I want on my dvd using my nero program. Yes I am still using the same brand of dvd when I burn movies or music. Nothing has change. No I dont see any error when I burn dvd. I am able to burn them and when I view the files on the dvd on m ycomputer all the music and movies are on the dvd and able to play them on my computer but some reason when I put in my dvd player it doesnt show. I know there were some movies in the old version you couldn't play in mydvd player depending on the file type but always was able to get whatever movie I want. I just downloaded 14 movies and burn them all on dvd and it dont show on my dvd player only if i open it in my computer. I m thinking limewire may put a code in the limewire so you cant watch it on your dvd. I dont know I never had problem with you guys till you have this new version. |

Sounds to me like they were not burnt to DVD video format, but simply data disk format. Standard DVD video disks use UDF format. Did you check whether the disks are PAL or NTSC? My DVD player can play both, but DVD players in many other countries are limited to playing either PAL or NTSC. Last edited by Lord of the Rings; September 9th, 2009 at 10:38 AM. |

the OP finally states that their player supports divx....which means the discs can be burned as data discs (or at least I assume, as I've never owned a player that plays such files).. I think LOTR's comment about PAL or NTSC may be very valid.... it is possible that if you are downing current releases that the encoding used has changed to a more modern format and your player no longer supports them... the big thing about a divx player is you can burn a lot of files onto one DVD disc and play them, whereas transcoding the .avi file to a VOB file means you can usually only fit one movie per disc... since you have Nero I suggest you try to transcode one of the files via the make movie option and convert it to VOB format that should work on all DVD players (as long as it is NTSC or PAL according to your region)

One other possible variable: are you using the same blank disks as before. I've burned DVDs that will not play on Mom's machine but will on other DVD players. Sometimes the difference isn't in the type of disk, but simply the brand. Mom won't let me buy her a better player. Hers isn't old, it's just cheap. |

Hello, Does your home dvd player support all format/codec ? Remember that *.avi files can be builded with different codec. Do you burn just the file you download from limewire or do you burn the dvd like a dvd type ? Do you try to understand wich codec is inside your movie ? (audio and video) Download and try gspot for that purpose http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ hope you solve your problem Last edited by OLDUSER; September 10th, 2009 at 05:32 AM. |

At the time I bought my original of the brand I have it cost 25% of the big brands but yet could play 'more' than the big brands could ... was not restricted to brand of dvd or other types of media it could play such as mpeg 4/mp3, divx, etc. The definitions of the design were by a local electronic whole-saler who had a company make it specifically under those specifications for them. Amazing huh ... can pay 4 times more for something that has less playability .. designed like that deliberately for marketing reasons. My only complaint is the remote control is not well designed. Just shows you how big brands play with their customers .. customers think because they're paying heaps more they're getting heaps better which in many cases is totally not the case (if you shop around of course.) I shopped around with home made dvd-r's, dvd+r's, dvd-rw's, dvd+rw's, mpeg 4 disks, mp3 disks, etc with me to try out. (Which included home made videos.) |
