Default Limewire Pirate problem

hi there - new member with a dumb problem.

i uninstalled old limewire program and installed the limewire pirate edition and it worked fine...

my problem is after computer has been shut down (program closed) etc - when i go to open limewire pirate (either by clicking on icon or selecting in programs) it takes me to the old Limewire edition 4.16 which i know i uninstalled....

it does this every time.

what am i doing wrong?

i actually had this same problem with earlier limewire updates.....after new version had been downloaded and program had been shut off it would always take me back to the older version 4.16 that i had originally downloaded.

anybody have an idea?

You could start by deleting LW's preferences folder. Check this link for info: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/welcom...tml#post363137

If you still have no joy, try using CCleaner: CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

And if you're still stuck after all that, check this link for another possible fix:http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...ys-starts.html

If you don't wish to try the LimeWire Pirate Edition first, then ...
Here's a starting point: If LW 5 Will Not Connect

After all, this thread Topic is about *LimeWire Pirate Edition*, not the standard LimeWire versions. Those questions are answered here LimeWire: Connection Problems

What's weird is, I'm hosting the main amount of mirrors, and even my god damn LimeWire isn't working!

I've tried diabling OOB, but that didn't seem to work. I thought it was my firewall because I reformatted three times last night (7 > vista > ubuntu > XP > vista> 7) (please don't ask or remind me LOL) so I disabled it after I remembered (my firewall is always disabled) *watches as packets are spammed to me* (GL).

no but really, I'm not quite sure what's going on. but I'm about to follow that if LW5 does not connect thread.

okay, just tried ALL of those methods. NOTHING will work. and this has had to be going on for more than a week. because I had a friend install limewire and it didn't work.

no go on girlfriends laptop either. she's a mac, I'm a PC.

hmm Well I just connected quickly, on Mac.

I noticed you posted here via Optimum Online. They have had a past history of blocking LW in some of their areas of operation. If this is all happening in your area & all are using the same ISP, this 'might' be why.
Check OOL here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-limewire.html perhaps experimenting with connecting to a high range port 'might' fix this. Worth a try. Let's hope they are not using another filtering technique if they are responsible for your connection problems.

I guess proxy is always a possibility but not easy & can be unreliable. Tor is supposedly very good. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...imewire-3.html

hmm, did not know that at all.
but nope, all different. OOL, ATT, comcast.

the good news is... after the hour of leaving it open...

IT FINALLY CONNECTED ON ITS OWN!!
never closing it. LOL

lol wtg. Hope it sticks .. even when you do eventually reboot, etc.
One thing about LW 5 & LPE is, if you don't use it for a while, it auto removes the connection list. File_Girl has created a fix for this, but not released it yet.
