For any Mac OSX users out there interested, I will post links to LimeStart as soon as I do a french translated version of the LimeStart installer with vosgpat translating. Edit: you can find a copy of LimeStart at the MacOSX or LW Pirate Edition links at the iFileIt site on page 1, or attached here. Alternatively find a copy at 3rd party hosting site MediaFire here. LimeStart will act as an insurance against the above behaviour of LW should you not use LW for a month or two (or longer.) |
All the MacOSX LW 5 and LPE versions I have packaged with LimeStart for optional use. I think I've done my deeds for the gnutella comunity. Hope you enjoy and appreciate them. I did not create a LimeStart for the OSX portables, I doubt anybody will use the portables anyway, though thought it was about time there was Mac portable equivalent just in case of interest. There, the LimeStart app actually puts Mac users ahead of Windows users lol :D :p |
hell yea thanks file_girl71! iv basically stopped downloading since limewire went down then got limewire pirated edition and i always had to restart my computer for the files to actually start downloading. i just took off LPE soon after this was well over a year ago and recently started using uTorrent which isnt bad but cant always find what your looking for. |
Having a hard time transferring limewire songs on to my itunes library. Always worked before??? Any ideas? |
What usually works is to disable the option on both LW and iTunes, then re-enable the settings on both. For iTunes that means Preferences -> Advanced -> Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library. However the problem is usually LW related. LW's menu bar, Tools > Options > My Files > iTunes (Configure). You may need to restart both iTunes and LW for the refreshing of the settings to work between the two programs. iTunes sometimes stops importing files from LW when LW has been running a long time. Java related at a guess. If that's the case, simply restarting LW and iTunes may fix the issue. |
Java 7 http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post348148 It seems no LimeWire version 5 including Pirate Edition will launch directly under Java 7 (1.7). This was obviously some kind of oversight error by the LW 5 developers. Which was also not realised when LPE was created. An oversight. Funnily, LW 4 versions are unaffected by this and will run happily under Java 7. A workaround fix for this issue was posted by pongo1 "here". At this point I do not know if this affects Linux users. Nor do I know if it will affect MacOSX users since OSX is still using Java 6 at this present time. |
Nu Hey, I'm having problems with sharing and don't wish 2b a parasite! Am running FileGirl's version with Pongo's shortcut on a Windows XP Pro sp3v6223, am on a wireless connection (Belkin 600-N Dual Band WPA2-PSK) and I did try FileGirl's WindowsFix but couldn't run it as admin due to need of a password ? I do not know how to deal with this I'm as green as the grass but can follow clear directions if someone would please be so kind ? Oh yeh, I almost forgot, I'm running Java 7 and used the downloader link (also from File Girl) That is why I made the shortcut! I am able to download files even though I am getting a message of " you are offline please check your internet connection" and am getting five blue bars! |
1 Attachment(s) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...on-message.gif ie: ignore that message you see first time you run LPE. The weblink the LW main-window used to connect to is no longer active, thus with the link now dead gives that eronomous message. I'm not sure about File_Girl71's fix, hopefully she can respond to that. I should imagine it's only asking for an admin. password to allow it. Her fix helps prevent LW deleting the connection file if LW has not been used in a month or longer. Can you give more details about your problem with sharing? Unless your files are music in which case id3 tags should be sufficient, giving your files a description can help your files show up in other peoples' search results. Unfortunately the LPE description tool does not work for video. And LPE's description tool is not as advanced as the LW 4 description tool was. Go to your menu bar, Tools -> Advanced Tools ... does it say anything about being firewalled? Attachment 6693 (This is a message you would see if you had firewall issues. Ideally it would say you are not behind a firewall.) |
I have only music files. The message I get in Advanced Tools is the same as you have it above, showing that I'm behind a firewall but support firewall transfers, yet I haven't seen any upload activity going on and I have over 60 files so far to share, more when I can figure out how to get music from my iPod out into the Limebrary! |
Which software firewall do you use? You will need to make an exception for LW in your firewall. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-firewall.html If the issue is not due to your software firewall, it might be your router's NAT, which acts like a firewall in a way. LW has UPnP abilites to open ports in routers that support UPnP, but not all routers have good UPnP implementation and some do not have any. Once you see the firewall message disappear from LW's advanced window, this should improve both your files being found in search results of others, your uploads should improve, and your search results should arguably improve also. As for iPod, there are free utilities you can obtain to help copy music back to the computer. A discussion about iPod earlier in the year http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...rive-help.html. Some of those links or utilities might be what you are looking for or at least helpful. Years ago I used a similar utility to copy music from iPod back to a Mac computer. |
